Andrew wanted to explore a waterfall on Sigurd Creek, however, access to the falls required hiking off trail through the forest. Instead of taking the Sigurd trail as it leaves the disbanded logging road we continued further on the overgrown road until it ended at a gully. We then thrashed steeply uphill into the forest but were blocked by a rock headwall. We continued laterally along the cliffs until we found a weakness and cautiously (but stupidly) scrambled up. At the top we found flagging that directed us toward the creek but the obvious sound of crashing water told us we were near the falls. On our return we followed flagging back to the Sugurd trail thankfully avoiding a potentially dangerous decent down the headwall. All waterfall photos were taken on a tripod mounted camera using slow shutter speeds, a neutral density filter, and multiple exposures which were combined using HDR features in Photoshop and Lightroom.
