The Sigurd trail is an odd beast requiring a lot of effort for (seemingly) minimal scenic rewards. Sure there is an interesting detour to a waterfall early into the hike and some viewpoints along the way but nothing particularly spectacular. It's all uphill followed by yet more uphill. Most of my the time on the trail has been for trail maintenance or to help with construction of the hand-line on the log bridge spanning Sigurd Creek. On this trip Andrew and I decide to hike the trail purely for pleasure with the goal of reaching the Moraine Camp and glacier below Ossa and Pelion peaks. The final moraine section of the trail has recently been transformed into a pleasurable path by Paul Kubik and BCMC friends. Success! There is a scenic pot of gold at the end of the trail but boy do you have to work to get it. And don't even mention the downhill journey back to the car!
