A unique climbing opportunity presented itself when Andrew proposed a hike along the scenic Sea to Sky Trail from Paradise Valley north to Highway 99. This section of the trail passes through dramatic rock gorges with train tracks snaking through the steep terrain and the Cheakamus River thundering below. Nine hikers and two dogs proceeded along the Cheakamus River then uphill toward Starvation Lake. At the viewpoint of the train bridge crossing the Cheakamus River the climbers left the group to find the climbing crag. Once we found it – after a few false trails – we enjoyed some mellow 5.8 climbing on solid rock with long pitches and great backcountry ambiance.
