On a sunny but slightly cool day in early May, Marty and I decide to climb the classic 5-pitch route Hairpin (10a) on the Papoose in Squamish. Despite being close to the highway the Papoose has a remote feeling with the base of the cliff tucked behind a bank of trees obscuring the noise and view of the road below. The first two pitches of Hairpin snake cunningly up the steep glaciated granite of the Papoose. A comfortable bench at the base of Hairpin testifies to its popularity.
